BritTany

France is obviously a country I know very well since I was born there! Before reaching the Irish shores, I had lived near Paris, in Nantes, in Clermont-Ferrand (Centre) and in Nancy (North-East). I've also spent most of my summer holidays in Brittany (North-West), where a lot of my relatives still live. France is divided in 101 departments and 18 regions, of which 13 are located in the Metropolis of France.

Here are some images taken during Summer 2020. Despite the Covid-19 pandemic, it was possible to circulate and like a lot of people I discovered there were tons to do and see 60 km around my parents' place. Here are some examples (more to come in the future!).

Camera used: Canon EOS R, RF 24-105mm, EF 55-250mm.

CONCARNEAU

In 2019, I had the opportunity to go to Concarneau (South Brittany) for a few hours. Here are a few photos I could take in a few hours. I'll definitely have to go back!

Port de Concarneau (Oil Paint style)

I had submitted that one to an external judge via the Athlone Photography Club in 2020. His comments were: "Nice colourful photo of boats with a canvas texture. But what is the photo of?" Basically, viewers don't know which part of the photos to look at specifically (the birds on the blue boat? the red boat? the yellow boat? the white boat?).

I half expected that comment, but sometimes I wonder if we can't simply appreciate a photo as a whole and not necessarily focus our attention on just one part of a photo. Anyway, I'm happy I took it and that's the most important.
