Even if I spent 17 years of my life near Clermont-Ferrand, the famous town hosting ASM or "Clermont d'Auvergne", I've never been a fan of rugby. However, I enjoy more and more taking action shots of any kind, so rugby, football, etc. are of interest...
It's hard, it's challenging, but it can be really rewarding: some images would simply be impossible to replicate in a studio or by asking players to pause in the field. I tried to attend several matches this season (senior men/women teams).
Here are a few photos taken during the match I attended.
Camera used: Canon EOS R, mainly RF 100-400mm, No Flash + Monopod

An image a bit unusual since it focuses on the bodies and not on the heads. The black and white really works on that photo.

Action shot taken during the game. It's important to see the ball in such action. As I was once told: no ball, no photo.

Usually, in action shots, you try to freeze the moment by using a fast shutter speed. I decided to have a bit of fun in a second half of a game and used a slow shutter speed.
Even if not perfect (legs hiding partially the face of the subject in 2 occasions), I really really like these 2 images. I definitely will try to get images of the same type in the future. I like the black and white here as it makes the images more dramatic.
